How do I obtain a restraining order?
To get forms and instructions to get a restraining order, go to the Lane County Circuit Court Clerk on the second floor of the Lane County Courthouse, 125 E. 8 th , Eugene, Oregon . There are no charges or court fees for getting a restraining order, and you do not need a lawyer. You need to be at the courthouse by 9:00 a.m. , and you will see a judge at 9:30 a.m. One piece of information you will need is the abuser's date of birth.

I was involved in a traffic crash, what do I need to do?
Oregon law requires drivers involved in an accident to file an Oregon Traffic Accident and Insurance Report with the DMV within 72 hours of the accident, excluding weekends and holidays. Accidents must be reported to the DMV if any of the following apply to the accident:
•Damage to your vehicle is over $2,500
•Injury (no matter how minor)
•Death
•Damage to any one person's property over $2,500
•Any vehicle has damage over $2,500 and any vehicle is towed from the scene as a result of damages.
Courtesy accident reports are available at the front counter of the police department.
Failure to report an accident to the DMV could result in your driver's license being suspended.

My vehicle was impounded, how do I get it back?
The Coburg Police Department will impound motor vehicles if any of the following apply to the driver of the vehicle:
- No valid driver's license.
- No insurance.
- Driver's license is suspended or revoked.
- Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.
In order to get the vehicle out of impound, you must come to the Coburg Police Department and present the following items:
- Valid driver's license, or be accompanied by someone who has a valid license.
- Proof of insurance on vehicle that was impounded.
- Proof of ownership or right of possession for impounded vehicle.
- Payment of $110.00 administrative fee.
Once the above requirements have been met, you will be given a release form to present to the towing company. Please note that there will also likely be towing charges and/or storage fees charged by the tow company.

Yes. We have what is called Vacation Security Check. You must come to the Police Department and fill out a form with information of emergency contacts and where you can be reached while you are out of town and the dates that you are going to be gone.

What is the law on bicycle helmets?
Oregon law states; “A person commits the offense of failure of a bicycle operator or rider to wear protective headgear if the person is under 16 years of age, operates or rides on a bicycle on a highway or on premises open to the public and is not wearing protective headgear.”
In addition to the rider possibly being cited for not wearing protective headgear, a parent or guardian could potentially be cited as well.

What is the law on child safety seats?
Oregon law requires a child who is under four years of age and weighs 40 pounds or less must be properly secured with a child safety system designed for children weighing 40 pounds or less. A child who is at least four years of age and under six years of age, or weighs between 40 and 60 pounds must be properly secured with a child safety system that elevates the person so that a safety belt or safety harness properly fits the person. “Proper fit” means the lap belt of the safety belt or safety harness is positioned low across the thighs and the shoulder belt is positioned over the collarbone and away from the neck. The child safety system must be designed for children weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.
A child who is at least six years of age and weighs 60 pounds or more must be properly secured with a safety belt or safety harness.
Effective January 1, 2004 Senate Bill 182 exempts a child from the booster seat requirement when the rear seat of the vehicle he or she is riding in is equipped only with lap belts, provided the child is secured by the lap belt.
